Jollibee marks milestone with first store in Lamitan City, Basilan

Jollibee, the Philippines' no. 1 fast food chain, opened its first store in Lamitan City, Basilan, on March 21, marking the entry of the first quick service restaurant (QSR) in the area.

“This store has been years in the making, and opening in Lamitan is deeply meaningful for us,” said Mayee Deveza, Visayas and Mindanao regional business unit head of Jollibee Philippines. “This milestone reflects our steadfast commitment to our purpose of spreading joy to more and more communities, especially in areas we have yet to reach.”

The opening also marks the second Jollibee branch in Basilan and underscores the company’s push for inclusive growth and community development as it expands to underserved areas.

The new store is currently the only QSR operating in Basilan, giving residents access to the brand’s well-known Filipino fare while introducing new dining experiences in the province.

Jollibee said the Lamitan branch also contributes to local economic activity, with all crew members and management staff hired from the city. The move is expected to provide employment opportunities and support skills development among residents.

More than a business expansion, the company said the Lamitan opening reflects its broader goal of making its products and services accessible to more Filipinos, while promoting inclusion and strengthening ties with local communities.
